Now I know why I’m here. Not for a closer look at the Moon, but to look back at our home, the Earth.

Log Entry #90 is an illustration book that I created for my undergraduate thesis project, with the topic of “Development of the new style of pixel-art”.

The story of the book was based on the journal of NASA Astronaut Sandra Hall Magnus when she served as a flight engineer onboard the International Space Station as part of Expedition 18. The story of space expedition and astronauts always inspires and teach me that we need to open up our mind and always try to see from a different perspective. These things have helped me a lot in the process of finding the art direction of this book.

To create the illustration of the book, I combined the conventional way of pixel-art drawing, with a pixel-art style that I created out of an Image of a daily object in our surroundings (building, tiles, pavement, etc). This to me was my attempt to reinvent the way of how a pixel-art illustration should be done.
